Tabitha's New Bed

Tabitha is now sleeping in a toddler bed. Well, her crib converted. We (Josue, myself, and Handy Manny-Joshua) took the front piece off today for her naptime. Here she is playing around.

She did fuss a couple of times when trying to fall asleep because it was new. She got down only once when her blanket and sheep fell out. I stood there watching with the door cracked. She was asleep in a matter of minutes all by herself. (She sucks her index and middle finger of the right hand to fall asleep.)

After an hour and a half, we heard her crying, so I ran to her room. She was in her bed just a little confused. I rubbed her back then left because she was still sleepy. The door was left cracked open in case I needed to peek. She didn't make anymore noise from her bed, and I was relaxing on the couch. Next thing I know, someone is squealing down the hall. Tabitha had let herself out of her room (remember the door was ajar) and was coming to find us. That surprised me because when Joshua transitioned, he stayed in his bed and would just holler at us to come get him. This transition should be interesting. I can't keep her in there while I quickly shower or dry my hair any longer. Who knows what she would get into!

New Shoes

Joshua has a blister on his foot. You know the ones you get on the inside of your foot from an uncomfortable shoe rubbing there? It was time to go shoe shopping today. We went early this morning (9:30) and the only store open was JC Penney. When you have two kids, you can't always shop for the best deal. I had to decide between money or time, so I chose time. I don't do so well running around from store to store, strapping and unstrapping both kids, and searching for a good deal. That stresses me out! So I had to pay a few extra bucks.

There was a nice cashier to help us. First she measured Joshua's foot. Yeah, I was two shoe sizes behind. I then showed him two shoes to choose from. He went for red and black Skechers. They are the nicest pair of shoes he has had thus far.

As soon as I put Tabitha down, she started grabbing at shoes. She is definitely a girl. She was holding some inexpensive Keds when I thought I should have her foot measured. Yep, she was wearing the wrong size as well. Poor kids. Not anymore, they both have one nice pair of shoes. We will need a couple more in the future, but for now, they're okay.

As soon as we put them on, Joshua was ready to go to the park. I was watching him run up and down the hill. He was definitley checking out his new shoes. Tabitha's sparkly, pink shoes didn't match her red shirt, so she hasn't worn them yet. However, she did walk all around the house carrying them.

Spending some time in Taylor

Yesterday, we went to Taylor to visit with our friends Laura and baby Sofia. Both Joshua and Tabitha enjoy spending time there. Joshua runs to get the microphone as soon as he enters, and Tabitha watches wondering when she will get a turn. Outside there is much to play with. Here they all are playing with a kitchen. The kids were making Rocket Soup (from an episode of Little Einsteins).

Tabitha and Sofia are one year and two days apart. Doesn't Sofia have a sweet smile?

When it was time to go, of course Joshua didn't want to leave. We wish we could see them more often. We look forward to seeing them again soon.

A Mind of Their Own

I am amazed at how soon kids decide what they like. Joshua likes to pick out his clothes and his cartoons. And just today Tabitha was holding out a loose sock she had found so I would put it on her. Here's a picture of her wearing the sock and eating a tortilla which she definitely likes.

Joshua also enjoys the tortillas. It was too cold at the time. He wanted it warm (just like his daddy).

Tabitha then had her 15 month check-up with Dr. Albert. She had a good time playing with the toys. There was a big box of dinosaurs, and she pulled one out of the box and made a growling noise. How did she know that? Probably her big brother.

Of course all the fun came to an end when she got her shots. Yes, there were tears, poor baby. She's napping away right now, so hopefully she feels better when she wakes up.

Joshua didn't go with us to the doctor. He went to Buela's house (Josue's mom). He was so excited to go. The report I got is... They went to McDonald's for lunch where he made a couple of friends by telling them he was going to be Handy Manny for Halloween. When Buela wanted to go shopping, he told her no because he wanted to go to her house. He was going to watch Dora, go to sleep, then watch Thomas the Train. My kids sure do have a mind of their own!

Some of their favorite things

Joshua now picks out his clothes. He has his favorite characters he wants to wear. This particular morning he is in Buzz Lightyear pj's and a Scooby Doo hat. He likes both of them because Gigi (my mom) brought us Toy Story and Scooby Doo movies to watch. When he found this hat in his drawer, he had to wear it. Thankfully it's been cool outside so he doesn't get too hot in it.



Tabitha saw him with a hat, and she wanted one for herself. I put this on her, and she proudly wore it. Tabitha likes whatever Joshua likes. She plays with his tools, his cars, and his trains. She does enjoy some girly things like baby dolls, bracelets, and shoes.
