Halloween Fun!

Halloween was a blast again this year!  It's the kids' favorite holiday, and why not?  Candy and costumes!

I found a recipe for slime.  Very simple and the ingredients were already at home.

Joshua also found a walking stick on our garage.  I had to add it.

Before Halloween I was smart enough to take their pictures.  Actually Joshua took this first one.  Joshua was a red crayon, and Tabitha was Dorothy.  Joshua's costume was homemade while Tabitha's was a dress up gift.  The wig had already been given a haircut by Joshua a few months ago so on Halloween I braided her hair.

The Friday before Halloween, IHOP served free scary face pancakes.  Josue just mentioned it on Thursday night.  Come Friday morning as I'm in the kitchen getting ready to make breakfast Joshua told me about the pancakes, so we went.

He loves to add sugar to drinks and stir.

Tabitha was so serious as we were waiting.  I finally asked her what was wrong.  She said she didn't want a scary face pancake.  Poor baby!  She was scared of a pancake.

Well, the kids actually decorated the pancake.  Nothing scary about whipped cream, oreo cookies, and candy corn.  What a way to start the sugar-high weekend!

Josue also found a Scooby-Doo carnival in Dripping Springs, so of course, we went.  Resting for the big adventure.

There were a few games.

Our neighbors, Wonder Woman and Superman, went also.

Joshua was instantly scared of the gang.  Tabitha was not.  She wanted to find Velma.  She really enjoyed talking with her then went to take a picture in front of the Mystery Machine with Velma and Shaggy.

There was a costume contest, and the gang judged it.

Joshua finally was brave enough for a picture.

On Halloween, we celebrated at church with a Night of Light.  The theme was Bible stories.  It was a huge success!  Posing with Gigi and Buela.

The kids went fishing with Jesus.

Also, they threw stones at Goliath.

There was also a ball toss to win prizes with Noah and the animals.

Here's Noah.

Moses and the Ten Commandments

Nehemiah was also there to build a wall.

Zacchaeus is up in the tree.

There is also the soldier wearing the armor of God.

We had lots of fun this year.  In fact at some point that evening, both kids were saying this was the best Halloween ever!

Summer Fun Part 3

This is the last blog about Summer Fun.  It ended with our vacation in mid-August.  We went with our friends, the Flores family, to Taos, New Mexico.  None of us had ties to the area.  It was just in a cooler climate semi-close to Texas.

Right before we were in Taos, we stopped for this scenic view.

Here we are now at the home we stayed at.  We found it at Vacation Rentals By Owner.  You rent people's homes.  It was a great deal for us, and we could have had a third family join in because there was a second story we never used.

The first day there we took the kids on a 1/4 mile hike at Red River.  It was very fun!  I must also say that Joshua never once complained about being outside like he normally does at home.  The heat was so not a factor, and he flourished outdoors like never before.

We had to cross a little stream.

This is a cave in the rocks.  I didn't want to get to close because it could definitely be the home of a bear.

Chillin' in the swings after a hard hike!

Another day we went to the Taos Ski Valley to go on the ski lift.  You see the picture of the lift in the background.  Those of you who've been skiing know there are no belts to hold you in.  We were reluctant to take the kids on it, but they did great!

We made it to the top and had to put on our jackets in August!

The whole gang!

Kids just being kids!

We also took another day to go see a gorge.  My stomach sank just looking at this picture.

Does this say vacation or what?

The kids at a play area.

The finale to our vacation was a stop in Llano, TX.  Yummy ice cream!

Everyone was glad to be home.  The first thing Tabby did was dress up!

Home sweet home.
